WORKSHOPS

We are looking for interactive, practical formats that encourage thinking, experimentation, and discussion.

The festival takes place from June 18th to 20th at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and is explicitly aimed at a non-specialist audience both within and outside the university. The workshops aim to provide participants with practical, understandable, and interactive access to fake news, disinformation, and artificial intelligence.

We are looking for workshops that address topics such as:

  • Methodological & technical perspectives

    • Fact-checking, verification, and dealing with uncertainty

    • AI-generated texts, images, or videos

    • How platforms work, algorithms and reach

    • Practical applications, analyses, or experiments with AI systems

  • Societal debates & political public sphere

    • Disinformation and Democracy

    • Election campaigns, political opinion formation and digital manipulation

    • Trust in institutions and media

    • Polarization and digital publics

  • Climate, Health & Science Communication

    • Disinformation in the climate discourse

    • Science denial and uncertainty communication

    • Health information between expertise and social media

    • Emotions, narratives, and mobilization

  • Work, Education & Everyday Life with AI

    • Artificial intelligence in the workplace

    • AI in schools, universities and further education

    • Decision-making with digital tools

    • Responsibility, liability and regulation

The workshops are designed to be easily accessible, encouraging exchange and active participation, and require no prior teaching experience. While in-depth subject knowledge is welcome, the most important aspect is clear and understandable communication.

The workshops each last 90 minutes, take place in parallel slots in English or German, and are designed for a maximum group size of 30 participants. Workshops may be offered multiple times if there is high demand. All festival events are free of charge.
